This is a solid wood of Japanese hinoki cypress used stackable box. The most common type of jubako shape is square, however, the design which is cutting off corners has been getting popular. This box is made of quarter sawn lumber of Kiso Hinoki. Hinoki stacked boxes are reinforced at the corners with special crafting called chikiri, but the type of corner-cut box cannot be worked with the same crafting, so this is finished with thick coating.
