The inside of the cup is finished with Suri-Urushi Lacquer (a traditional technique applied to the surface of wood), so the color will not change even when hot drink is put in it. Wooden cups retain heat better and are less likely to get cold or warm. You may feel that the cup is too hot to hold without handles such as ceramic teacups. Wooden vessels do not conduct heat very well, so even if you put a hot drink in it, it will not get hot.
